Mini Machetiers...

DSCF0697

Renee and I experienced so many things in the short time we were in Honduras. With a vast range of emotions, there were things that broke us down to tears, and other things that made us laugh. All are stories worth telling. Maybe its my mood, or the fact that I'm afraid to go back in my memory right now to the really hard parts of our trip, but my first reflection is a laughable moment.

"Only in Honduras will you see a nine-year-old girl sharpening a Machete." If you don't know what a machete is, it is a long blade used to chop plants and vegetation. One of our days in Honduras, we visited a school for abandoned street kids called Project Manuelito. These kids were usually discarded by their parents and with no where to go were taken in by a ministry sponsored by World Gospel Mission. On this property, the kids live, receive food and education, and (as seen below) work. Apparently, they were in trouble and were assigned to chop down weeds and dig out stumps as punishment, but by the looks of things, they were having the time of their lives.
